  The Importance of Adult Education

Many people in the workforce are unhappy with their current salaries or career and consider a change or a betterment of their lives through discovering new avenues of industry。Adult education is on the rise。I personally hold that adult education is highly advisable and pletely achievable3 and therefore is highly important。

Firstly, adults starting a new or returning to school most often have found within themselves a strengthened desire to succeed。 Studies have shown that 80% of adult students graduate as pared to a 50% average graduation rate among traditional students。Furthermore, adults have a bank of knowledge from life or work experience that can contribute to what they will learn in school。This is a fantastic advantage over their younger peers。Adults also view their professors as peers and are less intimidated by them,Last but not least, higher education for the adult is a life-changing experience。Most often, adults go to school to further their education in hopes of salary increases, chances for promotion,or they go to school for change, hoping to enter into a better field or pursue a field that they have a deep-rooted passion for。

In conclusion, the importance of having adult education overshadows the difficulties in pursuing your degree later in life。Given that most colleges and universities have tailored their programs to fit adult student's needs and schedules, going back to school for adult education is feasible and highly advisable。

  The Way to Success

There are many ways to success, such as hard working, passion or good preparations。 From Honore De Balzac’s famous remark, “There is no such thing as a great talent without great will power”, we can see that the way to success is having a strong will。

A strong will is essential if we want to achieve our goals。 Initially, every success involves several stages of setbacks and risks, and we need to summon up our will to overe them。 Moreover, there are enormous temptations in our path of the pursuit of success。 Only with a strong will can we resist the temptation, and persist in chasing our goals until we reach them。

The long history of human being has also proved that only those with a strong will can achieve success at last。 We are all familiar with Thomas Edison’s story that he had tried one thousand kinds of materials before he finally made his great bulb light up。 Without a strong will, Edison might have been a nobody。 Without a strong will, no one can succeed。

  The power of cooperation

The intended meaning of the pelling photo above is far-reaching and affords much food for thought! One cannot help but be moved by the scene as illustrated in the caricature, where there are two handicapped men, with their broken legs tied together, running forward and leaving the dust flying behind the, with a caption underthis caricature indicating: “With one leg of yours and one leg of mine, we jointlybrave our way forward here and there!”

Given its profound social implication, the thought-provoking phenomenon is well worth our endeavor to explore。Undoubtedly, this cartoon arouses our deep concern over the issue of mutual support。 The message conveyed in it, I suppose, is twofold。

In the first place, in contemporary society, if one wants to achieve his targets or intends to fulfill his ambitions, he has to work hard, make efforts and get prepared on the basis of his team, otherwise, he will take no advantage of opportunities when they e to visit him。

Secondly, the difference between a man who succeeds and one who does not mainly lies in thefact whether or not he couldhe could cooperates successfully with others。

As a famous quotation from the ancient Greek Aesop’s Fables put it, “United we stand, divided we fall。” We should glory in teamwork and helping one another; take self-seeking to be a disgrace。

  Killing Time Indoors

Nowadays a growing number of people, especially the 20s or 30s, tend to stay indoors for most of their spare time, especially on holidays。 Some spend the majority of the time online chatting, blogging, shopping, dating or playing puter games。 Some sit with their eyes glued to the television screen, day and night。

People’s opinions vary when it es to this way of killing time。 A great number of people maintain that staying indoors is cheap, fortable, and most importantly, very safe。 Others, however, frown upon staying indoors for too long。 They are worried that lack of physical exercise and face-to-face munication with others will do harm to people’s body and mind。

Personally, I don’t think staying indoors for most of the day should be advocated。 Instead, people in all ages, their physical conditions permitting, should be encouraged to spend more time outdoors。 The brilliant sunshine, the pleasant green space, the interactions with other people, etc。 are all good for people’s health, both physically and psychologically。

As an old saying goes,"Treat others the way you want to be treated。" Likewise,(同样) if you want to be understood, you must first seek to understand others。

To understand others is to put yourself into others' shoes and to be aware of their feeling。 That is often perceived as a mere selfless act; but in fact, when you seek to be empathetic(感同身受的), you can melt an otherwise cold relationship and thus are more likely to get understood。

If clinicians, for instance, treat patients like medical conditions, not people, then minor disagreements between them may escalate into(矛盾加剧) greater conflicts。 On the contrary, if a care provider can put himself in patients' place, trying to feel their pains and sufferings, the patients will be more inclined to (更有可能)understand the clinician, even if the treatment falls flat。(不成功)

In conclusion, understanding generates within us love and inclusiveness。 Only when we attempt to understand others, can we truly care about them and tolerate differences。 It's understanding that enables us to have a generous heart to be considerate and benevolent(与人为善的)。If everyone is willing to do so , we will surely be better understood and tolerate。

  Decline in Morals

In modern society, the decline in morals is being more and more severe。 For example, there have been a few cases in which a senior woman pretended to have fallen over and then blackmailed the person who tried to help her。 There was also another case where a little girl was hit by a car and no passers-by gave her a hand。

To solve this problem, we need first to find out the reasons。 For one, the fast pace of modern society is driving people apart from each other, thus people are losing the patience to care for others。 For another, with technology developing, it’s much easier for people to know what is happening in the world today。 In order to draw people’s attention, some media would lay stress on negative news and overemphasize the negative effects。

To reestablish social morals, we must work together。 People should learn to care for the others, while the media should treat negative news more properly。

  The Importance of Daily Exercise

I definitely believe that a regular amount of suitable daily exercise is an important factor in maintaining one's health。 The focus is on the word “suitable" because a person's age and physical condition can dictate the type and amount of exercise that is appropriate。

There is a wide variety of exercise routines available to suit people of all ages and condition but it is wise to seek the advice of a doctor before taking on a fitness program that may not be suitable: The growth of fitness studios in the big cities has made it easier for busy people to work out a program to fit their time schedule。 Most of these studios are staffed with petent and qualified professionals who can tailor a fitness program to best suit one’s needs。 Some people rely on sport to provide the exercise they need but some sports carry a risk of injury。 People who lead a sedentary life that does not involve much physical activity can offset this through isometric exercises。 While the professional studios e equipped with all the latest machines and aids, there are plenty of ways a person can get sufficient exercise without incurring the cost associated with studio fees。 Walking or riding a bike are excellent sources of providing free exercise but one of the most popular is the regular practice

  of the Tai Chi movements。

In conclusion, daily exercise is important for health and there are many ways to do this which cost little amounts of money。

Any opinion is, in fact, a judgment。 I feel that as Americans we would do well to judge othersless often。 Still, we must be able to decide whom to spend our time with and whom we’d ratherforget。 In my opinion, this type of judgment is best after we get to know other people。 Firstimpressions are not always accurate impression。

Judging a person based on a first impression does save time。 There are more people thananyone could possibly get to know in one lifetime。 It is frustrating to waste time getting toknow someone, only to find out that your first impression was correct and that you really don’tlike him or her。 So is it a waste of time getting to know people your probably won’t like? Thatseems to be a valid point of view, but I believe that it is not the best attitude to take。

It’s more humane to spend time getting to know people before judging them。 I know that Idon’t always make a good first impression even when I truly like the person with whom I aminteracting。 We all have bad days, I wouldn’t want to lose a job or a potential friendship simplybecause I picked out the wrong clothing or said something wrong。 I think everyone deserves thechances make a second impression。

If we all base our final opinion of others on first impression, it would be hard to get to knowanyone。 There is always more to people than meets the eye。 If we don’t give someone a chance,we may be missing out on meeting a life-long friend。 That would truly be shame。

  Choose a Job You Love

When it es to choosing a job I believe that one's own interest should be considered as an important criterion。

I concede that big cities usually provide more opportunities than smaller cities。 And the challenges presented with big cities can also motivate new graduates to adjust to the real petitive world fast。 In the same sense, remuneration undeniably would be a major factor as well。 However, as far as I am concerned, the decisive factor should be one's interest。 People can easily be trapped in a job which does not inspire them。 But work can also be a source of infinite pleasure and enjoyment if it intrigues an individual。 Furthermore, one is much more likely to obtain achievements by playing to one's strengths。 Life would be more meaningful when one endeavours to pursue one's real interests and follow one's heart。 Admittedly, it is hard not to be tempted by a high salary。 Yet, in the long run, one will e to the realisation that it is shortsighted to exchange one's passion for monetary rewards。

In the final analysis, although there are a myriad of factors to be considered before making a decision, from my standpoint, I believe that one should never forgo one's true passion。

There are a lot of advantages to having friends who are different from you。 For one thing, they'll give you a different way of looking at the world,。 Friends who are different can introduceyou to foods, music, politics, and books you've never tried before。 If you're a spontaneous kindof person, someone who is more scheduled can help you get better organized。 You, on theother hand, can help them loosen up a little bit, and do things more on the spur of themoment。

Someone who is different from you won't have the same reaction to situations。 This can bea big help。 If you're the kind of person who gets very impatient waiting for your meal in arestaurant, it helps to have someone calm with you。 Your friend can help you keep yourtemper。 If you're a little timid about standing up for yourself, a more assertive friend canhelp you develop a little more self-respect。

However, there can also be advantages to having friends who are similar to you。 You usuallyenjoy doing the same things, so you don't have to argue about what you want to do。Sometimes it's fun experiencing new things。 Other times, it's more fun doing what you knowyou'll enjoy。

All things considered, I think I'd like to have a lot of acquaintances who are different and afew close friends who are similar to me。 That seems the best of both worlds。

There are many factors that can contribute to a person’s success in life。 Whether he is at school or at work, a person is more likely to succeed if he is hard-working, honest, intelligent, responsible, and so on。 But of all the possible characteristics that can affect one’s success, I believe self-confidence to be the most important for the following reasons。

The first reason is that when a person has self-confidence he believes in himself。 He believes that he can and will succeed, and this gives him the courage to try new things。 In order to be successful we must be willing to take some risks, so having self-confidence is very important。 Another reason is that a confident person rarely gives up。 When he fails he tries again and again until he wins。 A final reason is that confident people are not afraid to show off their achievements。 This is not to say that they should brag, but that they should gracefully and confidently accept the pliments of others。 When their achievements are noticed more by others at school or work, they are more likely to succeed。

In short, I believe self-confidence to be the most important factor in success。 It enables people to take risks, try again when they fail, and enjoy their acplishments when they win。 With these abilities, a confident person can succeed easily at school or work。

Life is being more digital and the digital is being more alive。 Have you ever noticed that you were surrounded by all kinds of digital products? Digital camera, digital puter, digital television, and so on。Because of these stuff, great changes have taken place in our morden life。

Firstly, with the development of digital products,TV,film and music go on-line and mobile。Our life are being more and more colorful。 Secondly, the growth of peer to peer digital media means that people can generate and transact digital content and services over global networks。 Nowadays, information is being unleashed and re-shuffled。And everything is being increasingly more connected。This is both very exciting and a bit unnerving。At last, the digital age has renewed our interest in friendship which means there is also an opportunity to deepen our sense and appreciation of it。

To sum up,our future is digital。To achieve success in the 21st century, all of us need to attain proficiency in digital products。

  Choosing an Occupation

One of the most important problems a young person faces is deciding what to do。 There are some people, of course, who from the time they are six years old "know" that they want to be doctors or pilots or fire fighters, but the majority of us do not get around to making a decision about an occupation or career until somebody or something forces us to face the problem。

Choosing an occupation takes time, and there are a lot of things you have to think about as you try to decide what you would like to do。 You may find that you will have to take special courses to qualify for a particular kind of work, or you may find out that you will need to get actual work experience to gain enough knowledge to qualify for a particular job。

Fortunately, there are a lot of people you can turn to for advice and help in making your decision。 At most schools, there are teachers who are professionally qualified to give you detailed information about job qualifications。 And you can talk over your ideas with family members and friends who are always ready to listen and to offer suggestions。

As the technology and economic is developing, the environment problem is being a severe problem, and the people are seriously affected。

The sustained damage to the environment has caused a serious problem, such as air pollution, sand storm, extraordinary weather, and diseases etc。, people suffer from what they have done to the environment。

However。 People have realized that it will be too late if they don’t do anything to prevent things from getting worse。 For example, there is an “Earth Hour” on a Saturday of March of each year。 It is a global movement, usually it lasts from 8:30pm to 9:30pm。 It is also called “Light-off for One Hour”。 During this hour, all the light will be turned off。 The purpose of this movement is not only to save energy, but also to warn the people to realize the importance of protecting the mother earth, and to stop violating the environment。

Anyway, people and the environment have to keep a balance relationship。 People take from the environment, and have to protect it too。

  Attitude Is Everything (态度决定一切)

There is a well-known proverb,“Every horse thinks its own pack heaviest,” which means whether people feel optimistic or not lies in what attitudes they adopt。 It is universally acknowledged that life is by no means perfect and a positive attitude makes life brighter。 As the case stands, it is our attitude rather than the situation itself that determines how we feel。

On the one hand, a positive mind brings about an active life, because to be in a good mood or a bad mood is at one’ s own choice。 On the other hand, looking at the bright side of the situation and remaining cheerful work out quite well when one is confronted with adversity。

In such a rat-race society, everyone is bound to encounter difficulties。 In my opinion, we should keep an optimistic attitude to pull through any hardship, as we can say “attitude is everything” 。

Although we would all love to be Ms Popular at home and in the office, at work the task is not to be liked, but to be effective, says puter sales executive Andrea。

"This is possibly the single most important lesson we can learn。 You can’t always be popular。 You shouldn’t have to be; it’s not what you’re there for。 Progress depends on having your own ideas and sticking to them。 And that means having the guts to make difficult decisions when you have to," she says。

We’re aware from day one in our first job that every decision we make is either a building block or a stumbling block on our career path。 We should use the time to lay the groundwork of future respect by being professional, responsible, innovative, diligent and reliable。

Respect is never given for nothing。 Claire knew that she was offered a move to Paris with her finance pany because she had gained a reputation for keeping cool under fire。 And the next step up the ladder would depend on her performance in Paris。

"It’s essential to build regard if you’re going to be able to do what you want in your job," she says。 Winning respect enhances all you do。 A proposal for change is more likely to be well received; an application for a raise or a request for promotion is more likely to succeed。

  Trying to Renew Knowledge

Today’s society is of knowledge economy age, in which new knowledge emerges much faster than ever before。 Moreover, knowledge plays an important part in the whole economy。 Therefore,

everyone finds it necessary to renew his (or her) knowledge, otherwise he (or her) will be left behind the society。

There are some ways to update knowledge。 On the one hand, one can attend different courses at all types of schools, either part-time or full-time。 On the other hand, self-study is, in a sense, a more convenient and practical method by which one can effectively renew his (or her) knowledge。

In my view, I have primarily depended on self-taught method in the recent years。 Although I am busy doing daily work, I still insist on teaching myself at night。 In this way, I can not only keep up with the swift development of society but also apply new knowledge to my practical work, which benefits me a lot。

Should Universities Give Priority to Practical Courses for Students?

Because of the demands in the job market, students with "hot" degrees such as puter science or finance are more likely to get a job than students with a "cold" degree like geography。 Some people say that universities should give priority to practical courses for students。 But I think that traditional courses are equally important and universities should not give priority to practical courses。

First, both practical and traditional courses are needed in our country。 Students who do well in different courses can help to develop different aspects of our country after their graduation。 For example, our society needs not only people who can help to develop economy and technology, but also people who can contribute themselves to literature and education。 Second, if universities give priority to practical courses, more students will choose those "hot" degrees。 When these students graduate, they will have to fight harder for a job because there will be too many applicants with the same degrees。 This will in turn cause an imbalance of supply and demand in the job market。

In one word, both practical courses and traditional courses are important, and universities should not give priority to either side。
